14 FAKTS INTERVIEW WITHANTSS

18/04/2025

London-bred Antss returns to Jamie Jones’ Hottrax on 18th April with ‘Wait A Minute’ as he doubles down on his high-impact sound. Building on his previous releases, ‘Rocca’ and ‘Rave’, his latest EP opens with the title track, delivering punchy beats and gritty textures for a raw, electrifying energy that’s sure to leave an impression. On the flip, ‘Verbena’ locks into a deep, rolling groove, where funky basslines and fluttering percussion come together for an immersive, rhythmic trip.

Hailed for his versatile sound, Antss’ driven mentality and connection to music have earned him recognition across labels such as Solid Grooves Raw, What NxT, Moan and more, with his tracks receiving praise from Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati, and Dennis Cruz. This latest release marks another bold step forward in expanding his evolving sound, serving as his second release of 2025 and further solidifying his growing presence in the year ahead.

Q: Please introduce yourself

Hey guys I’m Anthony Ricketts also known as Antss.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Let’s change that to tea and I’ll go Michael Jackson, what a musical genius.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Whatever Spider-Man can do, how fun would it be to be able to shoot web, fling from building to building and climb up walls!

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

Maybe something light and fun like guardians of the galaxy, all the music used in those movies are placed so well.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

I’ll give two, Patrick Topping & Jey Kurmis the music those guys were making I would listen and just be like damnnnnn! So unique.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

Plenty of hours in the studio. Simple.

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out his career in music?

I’ve really had to trust the process that’s what it always comes back to when things aren’t going the way I think they should be.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

I’d say when I played Solid Grooves at Fabric a few years back, I played in room three, packed out and the vibe was great.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

I feel like my music has always been quite driven so I don’t know how much it’s changed because it’s always been the same kind of blueprint.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

Drum & Bass! I only started getting into it in the last 6 months, but wow it’s helped me push past certain barriers because it so hype. It’s the energy I’ve needed to inject into my life.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

House music was my in into electronic music when I was about 19 years old, before that I wasn’t listening to a lot of music which at the time wasn't strange to me but now I know it’s because I was a severely unexpressed kid, so this music really kickstarted something for me emotionally.

Storm Queen - Look right through (MK Remix). This is the track that sparked my interest in dance music. I remember seeing the music video on TV, and the dance, and I was hooked.

Patrick Topping - Forget. He was THE guy, and everyone was hooked. This brother's music changed the landscape

wAFF - Connected. Productions like this just sucked me more into the scene such a cool unique style wAFF has.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

Do you know what there’s a good few churches in Liverpool I walk by that aren’t in use anymore and I think the parties that could be held in them would be epic!

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

I have this Hottrax release obviously, but there are a few others in the pipeline, not confirmed just yet though, so I’ll have to hold back. I have a few gigs in May, which should be cool. I’m looking forward to those, I feel like I haven’t played in years!

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

I do extra work on TV and adverts :) Hollywood here I come? Haha

Antss - Wait A Minute [Hottrax]
