Betelgeize’s new release is a stunning seven track album, which covers genres ranging from downtempo electronica to Afro house. The release comes via his record label It’s Good To Be A Tree, and it’s an organic release with mystical atmosphere.The album has some tracks with strong percussive grooves that are perfect for dance floors and DJ use, while others are more atmospheric. It’s an expertly produced selection of tracks that unfold to capture the imagination. Betelgeize has also created a fairytale type story that helped inspire the album.First of the tracks on the release, “Capítulo I - Vida Pacifica (Feat. IKVA)” opens proceedings with an upbeat energy. It’s got powerful vocals that capture the listener’s attention before the album’s story starts to unfold.Track two, “Capítulo II - Parábola Del Chamán” is a tense piece of music with spine-tingling atmosphere, which signifies a chilling change of mood from the first track. This change of mood introduces a story of a dragon entering the lives of a nomadic tribe, and the following tracks tell a dramatic tale of the dragon capturing a tribe leader who then has to escape.The story is one where the listener can make their own interpretation, but there are dramatic tracks like “Capítulo III - El Razllob” and joyous tracks such as “Capítulo VI - Vamos, Adios”.Although there is a fantastical concept behind the music, the tracks have still been produced with DJ use and dance floor functionality in mind.On a whole, it’s an album that provides a compelling home listen, but there are also gems to be picked out for DJ use.
