Q: Please introduce yourself

What’s up, my name is Braydon. I'm a 24-year-old Producer, DJ and record label owner based in Arizona.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

Rick Rubin, his a creative genius.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Probably to speak every language so I can communicate the way I want to with my friends who live in other countries.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

To be honest, I don’t watch many movies, but one of my favorites is that super cringe DJ movie with Zac Efron called “We Are Your Friends”. I think writing a sequel to that would be hilarious.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

That would probably have to be Niteplan. He has a certain aesthetic to his sound that excites me every time and it is uniquely him, which I admire very much. Sosa and his label COCO are another heavy influence for me as well, I think Jay is an amazing curator and producer, and I discovered him very early in my DJ career. There are many artists that have shaped my sound, but these two are the first that come to mind.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I started DJing my second year of college, after attending my first rave and seeing Chris Lake. I had been interested in music for most of my life leading up to this, but seeing Chris at that rave was my first real exposure to house music. From there I really just got obsessed with it, I started learning Ableton and how to make my own beats. A few years later, Chris Lake ended up playing one of my songs out at Space Miami, and this was my first real DJ support. It was surreal for me to see someone I looked up to so much at the time play my music. Since then, I have really been hooked on production. It’s so satisfying to me, and it is pretty much all I do in my free time. I am super thankful for all the support I have on it so far.

Q: Everyone goes through ups and downs, what’s one habit you adopt to push through the downs?

I think community is the number one most important thing in this journey. Having other artists around to push me along has been vital to my success. It is important to keep your artist friends close so you have people to lean on and grow with and also give you feedback on your art.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

A really fun one for me was when I played Sound Nightclub in LA. This was the first real club I ever played. That place is always special to me now.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

It takes a while before you find a sound that you really want to dial in on and follow. I was trying out making all types of house before I got really into Minimal Tech. I think that’s a necessary part of the journey to figure out what you are really good at.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

Definitely alternative rock. I was in a band when I was younger, and that is definitely something I would love to do again.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

Ghosts N Stuff - Deadmau5

Operator - Chris Lake

Imagination - Gorgon City

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

I think the best place to rave in the USA is Miami. I feel that the scene for Minimal music is more advanced there compared to other areas because of Club Space’s influence.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

This year I am really focused on my record label, Roots, and releasing music there. Besides Roots, I am releasing on another goal European label that I am excited about. More info on that to come.

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

A fun fact about me is that I love fish keeping. I have an aquarium in my office space that is my pride and joy.
