Q: Please introduce yourself

I'm Christian Nielsen, a Danish DJ and producer who lives in Copenhagen. I’ve released music on Diynamic, Spectrum, Kompakt, Pets just to name a few.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

I'd love to have coffee with Quincy Jones. His career is legendary, and his ability to move between genres effortlessly is something I admire. His work ethic, creativity, and passion for music are unmatched, and I think a conversation with him would be full of insight.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Time travel, for sure. I’d love to go back to witness the origins of different musical movements in their prime. Imagine experiencing a 1980s New York block party firsthand, or being in Detroit when techno was just starting out!

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I'd love to score a film like ‘Blade Runner’ or any science fiction movie with a deep, atmospheric storyline. The fusion of futuristic visuals and moody, emotional electronic music would be a perfect canvas for me.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Solomun just to name a few, has been a huge influences. They are DJs who not only knowshow to read a crowd but also remains true to their musical journeys. Their longevity and constant innovation inspire me to always push my boundaries.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

I’ve been passionate about music for as long as I can remember. Starting out as a DJ in smaller venues, I slowly worked my way up by honing my craft, experimenting with production, and finding my own voice in electronic music. Over the years, the support from the community and collaborations with other artists have played a big role in shaping my career.

Q: Everyone goes through ups and downs, what’s one habit you adopt to push through the downs?

Make music. Producing is my meditation if you will. Even when I hit writers blocks I make beats. Its my ME time

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

Pacha Ibiza b2b with Solomun for Solomun + 1 remains unforgettable. The energy of the crowd, the iconic venue, and the feeling of being part of something historic made it a magical experience.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

Over the years, I’ve experimented with a wider range of sounds. While I’ve always stayed true to my roots in house and techno, I’ve become more open to blending different genres and pushing creative boundaries.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

I’d probably go for jazz. There’s something about the improvisation and freedom within jazz that fascinates me. It’s complex yet soulful.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

1) Bjørn Svin – Mer Strøm. It was the first electronic music I really listened too and album I bought.

2) Basement Jaxx – Red Alert. The first house track I heard on the radio, and have been fascinated with cross overhits even since.

3) Richie Hawtin's DJ set filmed by dancetrippin.tv at Amnesia from 2000 and god knows… That set really got me into the harder sounds of house music.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

Amalienborg courtyard where the king lives… Would be amazing! Or the marble church across the street.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

New EP coming on Kinetika, Single on Fideles’ Impressum, EP on Miss Monique’s Siona label, and hopefully more music on Factory 93!

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

I used to be a top badminton player in my youth, I’m very very good with a yoyo and I know all kinds of useless information about animals. My first ever concert was Spice Girls in Copenhagen… ok… too much information! Sorry…
