Q: 1 - Introduce yourselves.
Julien Piacentino: Hello, I’m Julien Piacentino, I’ve been producing electronic music for almost 10 years now with my solo project. I’m also working as a Financial Analyst in Accenture, and I live in Paris.
Raphael : I’m Raphaël, I’m 21 and I’ve been a musician for twelve years now and I live in Uzès.
Q: Knowing that you recently just launched your EC project, did you both have any former projects you worked on before?
Julien Piacentino: I had my solo project “Julien Piacentino” for almost 10 years. I’ve produced different styles of music, always around techno, but with different influences over the years.
Raphaël : I had some solo projects in the past few years, but it was mainly rock or shoegaze style. I really started producing techno with Julien.
Q: You’re brothers, how did you guys both develop your passion for music production and djing? How would you break down your creative process in the studio?
Julien Piacentino: During the last few years Raphael was working with me sometimes in the studio, we shared ideas, and he also helped me on some of my last solo production.Then I realized we had the same vision of electronic music, and we can create something special together, Esoteric Circle was born naturally, in family.
Raphaël : Nothing to add.
Q: Have you guys ever played a major gig before? If so then what was your favorite and if not then where would be your dream club/festival to play at?
Julien Piacentino: Unfortunately, we still didn’t play any gig as Esoteric circle yet, but we will make our Barcelona debut on the 24th of May at Macarena club. We are also working on some gigs for the next months. I would love to play in Fabric 😊
Raphaël : Ibiza for me, I think.
Q: Knowing that you’re from Italy but you live in France, do you guys consider that as a plus to your career or vise versa? There’s quite a big number of producers coming out of Italy recently!
Julien Piacentino: We were born in France, always lived in France, our Family is from Italy, but we are 100% French, so we didn’t really pay attention to that. We are really focused on the music, make something different and bring something new.
Raphaël : I think we were both really influenced by all the huge Italian producers, but I don’t think the country we come from matters. We have so many other influences (other than electronic music).
Q: If you were to have a superpower, what would it be and why?
Julien Piacentino: I would love to be invisible, to be in studio with my favorite producers and learn from them.
Raphaël : Ant-Man superpower is pretty cool.
Q: 1 person you’d dream to have a coffee with?
Julien Piacentino: David Lynch or Arsene Wenger, or Both 😊
Raphaël : Richard Linklater. I wanna know everything about his teenage year’s vision.
Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score from the past, what movie would you choose and why?
Raphaël : Inland Empire from David Lynch. Because this movie has no boundaries
Q: Tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for this year
Julien Piacentino: We released 2 EP ‘s this years, so I think we will take some time before the next one. We are working hard on new music at the moment, but no EP planned.We recently started to work with Barcelona Based Label Venom recording, the next release will be a various artist with an Esoteric Circle track. We will also work on our next EP but nothing confirmed yet.We will release a remix for Olivier Weiter on his imprint Winter, before summer, and a new track on the next Various artist of our friend’s label Family Name
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners don’t know
Julien Piacentino: I’m a little bit scared of planes 😊
Raphaël : I’m maybe a little bit hypochondriac.
