Marcelo Vasami Socials
Interviewed by GBS - December 09.2018
Q: Introduce yourself then describe yourself in one word.
My name is Marcelo Vasami. I’m an Argentinian DJ & producer, lover of music, food, family and friends. Describe me in one word? Fun.
Q: Club or Festival and why?
Club. In my experience, the connection that happens between the DJ and the crowd inside of a club is completely different, there’s much more intimacy. At a festival there are so many artists that the sets are always too short, I LOVE EXTENDED SETS.
Q: Analog or Digital and why?
Both. I really like analog because of its sound but I also like the spark that digital sound brings. I think that creating a balance between the two makes for a really interesting result.
Q: Favorite Club/Venue and why does it stand out from the rest?
Akvarium. It’s a great club with a special crowd, and a good sound system. Also it has the plus of being in one of my favorite cities: Budapest.
Q: What was the driving force that got you into DJing/Producing and when?
My cousins who are in the DJing world were the ones who taught me the art of mixing when I was 15. Two years later I pursued a degree in electronic music production in Buenos Aires, where I developed as a producer.
Q: If you were to have a superpower, what would it be and why?
The power to help those who need it most.
Q: Favorite day of the week?
Saturday
Q: Favorite sport and why?
Football. It’s a sport I played my whole life and I’m super passionate about it.
Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score from the past, what movie would you choose and why?
The Nightmare Before Christmas. I’m fascinated by the darkness that drives this film.
Q: Recommend a Hidden Gem in your Home country
I would throw a party at the Iguazú waterfalls.
Q: 3 tracks that got you into electronic music
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
De’Lacy - Hideaway (deep dish remix)
New Order - Blue Monday
Q: Tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for this year (Exclusive release/announcement)
I don’t have any confirmed release dates at the moment, I have several original records done that just don’t have a label yet. I hope to finish the current album I’m working on before next June :)
Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most of your followers don’t know
At the last ADE the smoke machine was inside the DJ booth so I clicked it... but it got jammed and we were trapped in a huge smoke cloud for over 10 minutes!
Q: Last but not least, do you have any question for us?
Marc Depulse: Do you want to drink a beer with me when I´m back in Beirut? :)
Tony Casanova: What do you think, what came first: the chicken or the egg?
Marcelo: What’s your opinion on Argentinian DJs/ producers?
Toka: As far as we know, we love your music and we'd love to know more about Argentinian talents.
