Q: Please introduce yourself

Hi, I’m MENE, a 31-year-old music producer and audio engineer born and raised in Serbia. I’m a big music enthusiast with over a decade of music production experience. I draw inspiration from a variety of genres to create a unique sound that resonates with people.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

I would love to have a coffee with Timbaland. His music production and his ability to create hits have been incredibly influential. I would love to hear about his creative process, experience working with various artists, and insights into the music industry.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Haha, if I could have a superpower, probably the ability to teleport. It would make my job way easier.

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

I would choose to score a film like Dune. The scale and intricate world-building of Dune offer so many possibilities for creating a soundtrack that blends various deeply emotional elements. This complexity would make me go on a creative process, step out of the usual, and create something new and unseen.

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

Rather than being influenced by a single person, my music career has been shaped by a blend of different experiences. Listening to a diverse range of music, travelling, and spending quality time with loved ones have all played crucial roles in inspiring and guiding my musical journey.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

My journey began in my teenage years when I started experimenting with music programs and DJ at local events. Over the years, I sharpened my skills, performed at larger venues and released several tracks that gained traction online. Graduating in Audio Engineering at Belgrade Academy of Arts allowed me to take my sound to another level. The support of the music community and continuous learning have been crucial to my growth, inspiration and personal development.

Q: Everyone goes through ups and downs, what’s one habit you adopt to push through the downs?

Spending time with my family is one habit that helps me push through tough times. Their support, encouragement and love provide a strong foundation, helping me stay grounded and motivated. Being with them helps me recharge and maintain my process of creation.

Q: What is one pro work ethic that you would recommend to the readers/listeners?

Consistency is a key. Make a habit of spending time on your craft every day, even if it’s short. This builds momentum and leads to continuous improvement over time.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

I grew up with Hip-Hop music. Then, later in my career, I started to get influenced by minimal sounds. Eventually, these two blended together, resulting in my unique mix of tech house and hip-hop elements. Nowadays, I try to go even deeper and play with Afro and oriental elements and vocals.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

If I had to follow another music genre, it would again be Hip-Hop. I’ve grown up on this music, its powerful rhythms, and its lyrical depth. Incorporating hip-hop elements into my music would allow me to explore my roots and bring a fresh perspective to my sound. Hip-hop is my first love.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

To be honest, there are no specific tracks. It was all about the genre’s energy, innovation, and possibilities.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

Belgrade offers numerous locations along its banks that would be perfect for a rave. Exit Festival’s Dance Arena was one of my first and biggest raves.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

Ohh man, what a year. It is filled with releases, big releases that are close to my heart. Working with some of the following people and upcoming labels has always been a dream. My latest EP just came out on Desolat, the renowned label founded by Loco Dice. Followed by Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion, Take Notes and Knee Deep in Sound. There is more to hear and see, but I cannot yet mention it at this moment!

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

This one is funny - despite my adventurous career in music, I actually have a fear of flying. Imagine that…

Bonus Q Powered by Pioneer DJ: How did Pioneer DJ influence your career and what is your favorite Pioneer DJ gear?

The new mixer - V10. I like the layout and new possibilities. I’m totally in love with the compressor and built-in send effects. Makes live performance and mix so much more interesting.
