Italian born Tech House artist Side B has been producing since 2019 and already has featured tracks on Mood Child, Sola, Futura, Moxy & more. Side B has received support from artists such as The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, Mason Collective, Manda Moor and Jesse Calosso amongst many others.

Watch out for this highly reputable artist as he makes waves in the electronic music scene around the world.

Q: Please introduce yourself

Yo Side B here, DJ and producer from Palermo, Italy. Nino is my real name.

Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?

If I had to choose a person I would dream of having a coffee with, it would undoubtedly be Manda Moor. In addition to being incredibly talented, she has a sweet and authentic energy that makes her unique. I admire her very much for her career in the music scene: she is conquering her space with determination and passion without ever losing the humility that characterizes her. It would be great to be able to talk to her about music, inspirations and the journey she is making in the world of electronics. I'm sure it would be a conversation full of positive vibes and interesting ideas!

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I had a superpower, I would choose the ability to instantly recover all lost music projects with a snap of my fingers. Imagine being able to bring back to life those files deleted by mistake, those sessions forgotten on old hard disks, or those brilliant ideas vanished into thin air—it would be a dream for every musician and producer! In addition to this, I would also like to have the power to listen to any song in its "perfect" version for my personal tastes. A sort of "divine remix mode", in which I can hear every track with the ideal mixing, the perfect arrangement and maybe even unpublished variations that not even the original artist had thought of

Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?

If I had the chance to do a film score, I would choose a fantasy adventure film. The reason is that this genre allows for a wide range of emotional expression and creativity in music. A fantasy adventure often features epic journeys, magical landscapes, and intense character development, all of which can be beautifully complemented by a rich and dynamic score. I would aim to create themes that reflect the characters' growth and the world they inhabit; overall, it would be an incredible opportunity to bring a visual narrative to life through music!

Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?

Jamie Jones and Manda Moor have had a significant influence on my music career. Jamie Jones inspires me to explore new sounds and experiment with rhythms. His dedication to the underground scene and the way he manages to involve the audience are elements that I deeply admire. Manda Moor represents a key figure in the electronic music panorama. Her ability to mix different genres and his passion for music shine through in every track he plays. I'm a big fan of both because they manage to convey authentic emotions through their music, pushing me to continuously improve as an artist.

Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?

My musical adventure began just before the arrival of COVID-19, when music was simply a hobby for me. I had no aspiration to work with record labels or to have support from others; I produced exclusively for myself to express my emotions and my ideas. Over time, however, the desire to share my work with the world has grown. I began to feel the need to let others listen to my music, to connect with people who could appreciate what I created. This inner drive led me to explore new opportunities, publish my tracks and try to build a community around my music. Thus, what began as a simple pastime turned into a real artistic path. Today, I am grateful for the journey I have undertaken and for the experiences I have had, and I am excited to continue to share my music with the world.

Q: Everyone goes through ups and downs, what’s one habit you adopt to push through the downs?

You're right. Ups and downs are a normal part of life. Personally, when I feel uninspired, I open the computer and start producing music. Although many times I never finish these "Transit" tracks, I use them as a source of new ideas for the songs I'm working on and that are on pause. It's a way to stimulate creativity and keep the artistic flow alive, even in difficult times. I’m ever convinced that the track that can change your life may be just one of those in “pause”.

Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?

For sure I can say the one in Milan, really nice crowd and some cool people with me.

Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?

Really, a lot. I started making music for the ‘scene’, which means that I did it with passion, but something inside me pushed me to delve deeper into the underground style. I think that feeling was not wrong.

Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?

I would choose jazz for its improvisation and its ability to express deep emotions. The fusion of different styles and creative freedom makes each performance unique. In addition, jazz sounds are still used in productions of other genres.

Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?

The first is "Hungry for the Power" by Jamie Jones. This song was one of the first to touch me emotionally, thanks to its contagious energy and enveloping rhythms. Every time I listen to it, I can feel a deep connection with the music and its message.

The second is "Let the Sunshine" in the remix version of Purple Disco Machine. This remix has something more than the original, and listening to it live during a summer sunset is an indescribable experience. The combination of sounds, melodies, and the atmosphere created makes me feel alive and full of joy.

Finally, there is "Sunday Sunlight" by Kerri Chandler. This track was the soundtrack of many good and bad moments of my life. It manages to give me an incomparable inner peace.

Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?

I would say the 'Mob' for the energy that is created inside, between the DJ and audience.

Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?

This year there will be other big releases and especially big collaborations... And also some official debuts!

Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?

The name 'Side B' came to my mind from a conversation with a man, while I was playing in the house next to his. He always asked me to hear the ‘Side B’ of the music I was playing, the A side was the low frequencies that rumbled from my walls.
