Q: Please introduce yourself
My name is Sophia and I run an inclusive electronic label, events collective, fashion house and radio show called HE.SHE.THEY.
Q: One person you'd dream to have a coffee with?
Adele because I think we’d be pals. Or robin Williams because he was my hero as a kid.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
To fly!! Always wanted to be able to.
Q: If you would have been given the chance to do a film score, what movie would you choose and why?
Some sort of dreamy other worldly animation – or lord of the rings but I’m not sure I could do it any better!!
Q: Who has been the most influential in your music career? And why?
My friends and peers and how we’ve all grown and learnt together and supported each other along the way.
Q: Tell us about your journey, what got you to where you are today?
I went to Glastonbury at 17 and saw all these people walking round with passes and realized the music industry existed. I then went to study music management at university which introduced me to so many friends I made for life. I did a lot of work experience and hustled and worked my way up in assistant level jobs until I became a freelancer and then a manager with my now business partner. We noticed things missing from the music industry wanted to help with and so we decided to create it ourselves. So HE.SHE.THEY.was born. You can follow us on Instagram for all our news or listen to our weekly radio show here.
Q: Everyone goes through ups and downs, what’s one habit you adopt to push through the downs?
Switching my routine to go to bed early and get up super early and lift weights. No matter how some things might be tough, being able to have little wins in the gym and get those endorphins is everything. Also I see a talking therapist monthly to unload and it makes me feel so much lighter and I recommend it to everyone!
Q: Can you recall a DJ set or performance of yours that remains unforgettable to you? Where did it take place, and what makes it stand out among all others?
Probably watching an artist I used to manage called Maya Jane Coles playing 4hours at panorama bar (Berghain) in January 2018. It was Sunday morning at 8am and we had a huge crew fly to Berlin from London for it. It was so special it moved me to tears.
Q: How has your music style evolved over the years?
I love so many different types of genres and artists. And I fall in love with new tracks and have them on repeat on a monthly basis. When I love something I love something no matter who the artist is or what the genre.
Q: If you were to venture into another music genre, which one would you choose and why?
I love all types of music, I was into indie rock a lot as a teenager. Bloc Party were my favourite band.
Q: Could you name 3 tracks that got you into electronic music and why?
Stardust – music sounds better with you. My mum came back from Ibiza whenI was 11 and had this on repeat and it reminds me of her.The prodigy – breathe – the first music video I was obsessed with and my dad played the fat of the land on repeat.n-trance – set you free. – I loved this track obsessively as a kid and to be honest… still now!
Q: Can you recommend a hidden gem in your home country that would be perfect for a rave?
Something at Stonehenge would be really cool if they could make sure they wouldn’t damage the site! Or in a forest somewhere….
Q: Could you tell us about your upcoming releases and plans for the year?
I run a label called HE.SHE.THEY. records – we have had so many amazing releases out in the last 4 years and so many lined up for 2025. Follow us here for the latest! https://heshethey.bandcamp.com/
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most of your listeners are probably unaware of?
I love to enter contests as a hobby and have had some amazing experiences through this, ask me if you meet me haha!
